MEET THE BOARD 2023-2024
Michelle Abola- President
My name is Michelle Abola. I have two children. My son Benjamin is an 8th grader and my daughter Jacqueline is in 5th grade. I have been a part of the PTA since Ben was in Kindergarten. I have chaired the Book Fair, the Kindergarten Event and the Blood Drive. In my “former life”, I was a litigation attorney for 7 years. I am happy to continue my role as PTA Board President!
Carisa Wellenreuther - 1st Vice President
I am thrilled to be serving as 1st Vice President this year. As a high school English teacher for the past 20+ years, I understand the importance of parental involvement, and as the mom of a third grader at Tackan, I look forward to working with members of the school community to make this the best year ever for our kids! In the past I have served as class mom, and chaired committees such as the Plant Sale, Reflections and the Ducks game.
MELANIE RESSA - 2nd Vice President
My name is Melanie Ressa and I honored to serve as the 2nd Vice President. I currently have two students at Tackan- Robbie (1st grade) and Cody (Kindergarten). I have chaired PARP and served as class mom. As a former educator and current learning and development specialist, I know the importance of learning and community for our students. I am excited to continue to make the Tackan community fun and engaging.
Dawn Gary - Treasurer
My name is Dawn Gary and I have been active in the Tackan community for the past seven years. I have three children- Sydney (8th grade), Quinley (4th grade) and Ashton (3rd grade). Professionally, I’m a Financial Planning and Analysis Manager with an aerospace company. I’m also a Girl Scout leader for my daughter’s troops. I’ve chaired several committees and volunteered throughout my years at Tackan. This is my third year on the PTA Board.
Jackie Sorce - Recording Secretary
My name is Jackie Sorce and I’m honored to be starting my first year as recording secretary for the Tackan PTA! I have three children- Carlie just graduated from East and is heading to SHU to study law, Joseph is going into his junior year at East, and Dominic is going into first grade. After an amazing year chairing multiple committees and helping on on several others, I look forward to another year of more wonderful events for our Tackan students!
Lauren Drinkwater - Corresponding Secretary
My name is Lauren Drinkwater. I have two children at Tackan- Nate (5th grade) and Cooper (3rd grade). I am a proud educator and currently serve as the assistant principal at W.S. Mount Elementary School . This is my second year on the PTA Board and I am excited to support the wonderful work the PTA does for our children. I love the Tackan community and am truly thankful for the opportunity.
Nicole McCord- Council delegate
My name is Nicole McCord. I have three children; Sophia is in 11th grade at High School East, Julia is in 8th grade at Great Hollow Middle School and Shane is in 4th grade. I have been actively involved in the Tackan PTA since my oldest started at Tackan. Through the years, I have been Recording Secretary and chaired many committees including Family Restaurant Night, 5th Grade Yearbook, 3rd and 4th grade Sports Night and Summer Reading. Professionally, I am an attorney for an insurance defense firm. I am happy to be back on the Board and I am looking forward to a great year.
